Johann Married Margaretha Kuhlenkamp on May 12, 1842, in Germany.
Johann Christian had brown eyes.
His occupation in Germany was a carpenter.
Margaretha had red hair and she was almost as tall as her husband.

Herman and Justus entered New
York harbor or Canada in the spring of 1865. They came by water to Wisconsin. They were in a boat in Cincinnati,
when President Lincoln was shot.
The brothers came ahead of their parents, so they could report back about the location.
The sale of Johann Christian's farm in Germany was packed in the family trunk (silver coin).
They sailed from Bremen, Germany October 10th, 1865 to the New York Harbor.
They rode on the S.S. Bremen. It was a new type of ship, which had both steam and sail.
They bought a 320 acre farm 2 miles south of
Belmont, Wisconsin.
They paid $6000 in silver for the farm. Johann died of Smallpox in 1873 at the age of 52.
